Rudná is in the Praha-západ district, around 3 km from Prague's western boundary. In 2025, it had about 5,500 residents.

Rudná was established on 1 January 1951 by the merger of Hořelice and Dušníky, and it has held town status since 2000. Landmarks include the Church of the Beheading of St John the Baptist in Hořelice and the Church of St George in Dušníky. Hořelice Chateau is privately owned.
