Psáry lies southeast of Prague, between Jesenice and Jílové u Prahy. The municipality comprises two parts, Psáry and Dolní Jirčany. The first written record of Psáry dates from 1088, when King Vratislav donated local land to the Vyšehrad Chapter.

St Wenceslas Church in the part of Dolní Jirčany is an early Gothic building, probably dating from 1186. In 1877, a pseudo-Romanesque nave and bell tower were added. The Amos Primary School building was formally opened on 3 September 2019, won the 2020 Grand Prix of Architects and also serves as a community centre with a public library.
