Červený Újezd lies about 2 km south-east of Unhošť. Prague's boundary is around 7 km to the west.

The first written record of the village dates to 1318. The modern castle of Červený Újezd, built in 2001–2002, houses the Museum of Czech Rural Life and an open-air museum; the Krčma restaurant also operates there. The Franciscan monastery of Hájek, within the cadastral area of Červený Újezd, was founded in 1659 beside the Loreto Chapel, consecrated in 1625. A 14 km pilgrimage route with about two dozen small chapels runs from Prague Loreto to the monastery; the ginkgo has been a protected tree since 1982, and the original château was remodelled in Renaissance style around 1570.
